Leather announces itself the moment you sit down. Not through colour or sheen, but through feel: the give of a well-milled hide, the way it holds a little warmth. Every hide in the Ficari collection is sourced from Italy, cut from European cowhide at a consistent 1.3 to 1.5 mm thickness, and milled at length to achieve the plumpness that separates considered leather from merely functional leather.
Low, grounded, and organically shaped. The Piccola Barolo's backrest asks the leather to follow a curve rather than meet a corner, which is where milling earns its place. A well-milled hide follows the frame without tenting or pulling at the seams. The cognac shown here develops a patina with use, shifting from uniform to characterful over years of contact. It is the leather that makes the silhouette legible.
The Rome presents an architectural brief. Its double-layered frame and tulip arm detail create a structure with edges and angles that the leather must conform to precisely. Dark or oxblood colorways read especially well here, the depth of the tone making the construction legible panel by panel.
Counter-height seating accumulates contact faster than most pieces of furniture in the home. The Castello's wrapped armrests and seat are asked to move with the user and recover cleanly, daily. The 1.3 to 1.5 mm thickness holds shape without rigidity. The protective top coat handles abrasion. Against a dark kitchen island or a pale stone surface, the cognac reads as warm and deliberately chosen. The leather earns its context.
